Liquid Transit-Time Flowmeters
TransPort PT878 Portable Flowmeter

The PT878 is one of the most powerful portable liquid flowmeters available. It measures flow from outside plastic, metal or concrete-lined pipes nonintrusively, so there’s no pressure drop, leaks or contamination. Patented correlation algorithms resolve transit-time signals like no other flowmeter and allow the PT878 to measure flow in ultrapure to extremely dirty liquids such as raw sewage and slurries.

The PT878 flowmeter is available with English only or with English and a second language. Languages available: Dutch, Castilian, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, South America Spanish, Swedish.

AquaTrans AT868 Ultrasonic Flow Transmitter

Accuracy is typically one to two percent of reading with clamp-on transducers, and better than one percent with wetted transducers. Flow measurement range is 0.1 to 40 ft/s (0.03 to 12.2 m/s), for a turndown ratio of 400 to 1. Measurement is obstructionless, causing no pressure drop and is noncontaminating.

AquaTrans UTX878 Flowmeter

The AquaTrans™ UTX878 is a powerful clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter. It measures flow from outside plastic, metal or any accoustically conductive pipe nonintrusively, so there’s no pressure drop, leaks or contamination. Patented correlation algorithms resolve transit-time signals and allow the UTX878 to measure the flow of a variety of liquids.
DF868 Fixed-Installation Ultrasonic Liquid Flowmeter

Panametrics’ Transit-Time mode, with advanced signal coding and correlation detection methods, provides drift-free flow measurements in ultraclean to dirty liquids. This mode handles 80 percent of multiphase liquids-including fluids with gas bubbles, liquid droplets and entrained solids-that previously required Doppler-type meters because conventional transit-time meters failed. Using advanced technology available only from Panametrics, an innovative TransFlection mode expands the DF868 flowmeter’s measuring capabilities to include applications previously handled only by Doppler meters, such as raw sewage, sludge, slurries and other extremely attenuating multiphase fluids. An optional dual-channel/dual-path model can be configured for a variety of uses including flow measurement in two different pipes, leak detection by measuring at two different locations on the same pipe and dual-path measurement at one location for maximum accuracy.

Obstructionless wetted transducers are readily available for maximum performance. After proper installation, transit-time accuracies of better than one percent are achievable in most applications, matching the performance of factory-calibrated meters or meters using expensive spoolpieces. Measurement range is 0.1 to 40 ft/s (0.03 to 12.2 m/s) for a turndown ratio of 400 to 1 in pipes from ½ to more than 200 in (1.27 cm to 5.1 m) in diameter. Measurement is noncontaminating, obstructionless, and causes no pressure drop. The DF868 is all-digital so measurements don’t drift, and with no moving parts to wear out or orifices to clog, it never needs regular maintenance.

XMT868i Liquid Flow Transmitter

The XMT868i transmitter is a Transit-Time and patented cross correlation signal processor, enabling it to measure flow in applications ranging from ultrapure liquids to extremely attenuating gas-liquid-solid mixtures that were previously handled only by Doppler meters. An optional second channel provides the capability to measure flow in two separate pipes or at two points on the same pipe, further reducing the per-point measurement cost. The second channel can also be configured for dual-path measurement at one location for maximum accuracy. The XMT868i transmitter can be used with any of our proven ultrasonic transducers, including wetted transducers for maximum accuracy and clamp-on transducers for maximum convenience and flexibility. Transducers, flowcells, and fixtures are available in standard and custom configurations for pipe sizes ranging from ½ to more than 200 in (1.27 cm to 5.1 m) in diameter.

The XMT868i transmitter measures flow rate from -40 to 40 ft/s (-12.2 to 12.2 m/s) and provides a typical accuracy better than one percent of reading with ±0.2 percent repeatability using wetted transducers, and two percent of reading with ±0.5 percent repeatability using clamp-on transducers. The XMT868i transmitter is ideal for use wherever accurate, reliable and economical long-term flow measurement is critical to process and product quality. This includes applications such as water and wastewater management, sewage treatment, semiconductor manufacturing, hydroelectric, fossil fuel and nuclear power, pulp and paper and energy measurement. Measurement is noncontaminating, obstructionless and causes no pressure drop.

Bundled Waveguide Transducer

The Bundled Waveguide Transducer (BWT) System, a technological innovation in ultrasonic flow measurement, is the key for flow measurement in Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) in large pipes. The robust BWT System is the proven solution for cryogenic LNG applications, including the outlet of liquefaction trains and off-loading from ships to storage tanks. In addition to these low-temperature applications, the BWT System is the leading technology for measuring liquids in extreme conditions, including high-temperature, low-density and high-temperature, and highly viscous liquids. Although the installation is wetted, BWT transducers are obstructionless, producing no pressure drop or flashing in the system. The BWT System is compatible with most Panametrics liquid or gas ultrasonic flowmeters. Installations last virtually forever since there are no moving parts.

Steam Transit-Time and Vortex Flowmeters
GS868 Steam Flowmeter & XGS868i Steam Flow Transmitter

When measuring steam flow rate, pressure drop caused by orifice or vortex shedding meters robs energy from the steam, reducing the amount of power and heat delivered to the user. Using the GS868 or XGS868i with two ultrasonic transducers that do not protrude into the flow stream, transducer installation is obstructionless, causing no pressure drop and reducing steam generation costs. No regular maintenance is required with the new flowmeters, further reducing long-term cost of ownership. Their titanium transducers have an all-metal boundary and are not affected by erosion from droplets. They will not fail due to thermal expansion cycles. A single GS868 ultrasonic flowmeter can cover a wide range of flows, giving additional savings. Because of their limited turndown ratios, conventional meters are used in multiple runs to cover all steam flow rates during high and low demand periods. Using a single GS868 flowmeter to cover the full range can result in lower capital and installation costs.

PanaFlow MV Mass Vortex Flowmeter

PanaFlow’s multivariable design consists of a vortex shedding velocity sensor, an RTD temperature sensor and a solid-state pressure transducer that measures the mass flow rate of steam, gases and liquids. The PanaFlow vortex flowmeter measures velocity, temperature and pressure in the same location, which provides more accurate process measurement. Integrating pressure and temperature simplifies system complexity and helps minimize initial capital costs, as well as reduce the installation costs. A wide range of options and meter configurations are available to meet your specific application requirements.
