Liquid Level Transmitters

MST-x27/PM-2000 Magnetostrictive series      Factmut.TIF (647232 bytes)

The MST-C27, MST-I27, and MST-S27 are Liquid Level Sensing devices designed to measure tank levels, and to transmit outputs to remote locations. They consist of a Magnetostrictive Primary Sensing Element mounted in a protective tube, and an Electronic Transmitter that is mounted to one end of the assembly.

The MST  liquid level transmitters operate by mechanically exciting a primary sensing element made of a magnetostrictive material. Excitation is achieved by means of a specially developed electro-mechanical actuator. The excitation shock wave is travel down the primary sensing element at a constant rate of speed independent of outside influences. The interaction of this moving shock wave with the magnetic field of the float cause a return signal voltage (RSV) to be induced on the sensing element. This RSV is sensed by the PM-2000 transmitter, and the resulting time delay is linearly proportional to the distance between the electro-mechanical actuator, and the position of the float. The PM-2000 converts this time delay into a calibrated 4-20 mA electrical signal that represents the liquid level.

These devices feature 2 wire Loop Powered Design, Ease of Mounting and Adjustment, and High Accuracy, Linearity, and Repeatability. The are also capable  of reading Interface and Total Levels with the same probe, and can be supplied with a Temperature Output in the internal tank versions.

These transmitters are available in three configurations:

MST-C27 - This transmitter  is integrally mounted with a PROMAG PM-26 Liquid Level Gauge. The PM-26, used to measure liquid levels contains a float that monitor's the vessel's liquid level. This float has a magnet internally mounted that sets up a magnetic field around it's perimeter. It is this magnetic field that the MST-C27 senses, and in turn transmits a 4 to 20 mA signal relative to the float's position in the chamber.

MST-I27 - This configuration uses the same principle as the C27, but the float has a hole through it's center, and is installed around the sensing tube. The MST-I27 is inserted into the vessel instead of being mounted to a PM-26 chamber external to the vessel.

MST-S27 - The MST -S27 incorporates part of the two designs above. The float is contained in a stilling well  that is lateral to the sensing tube. The entire device is inserted into the process vessel as in the MST-I27

CLT-x25/PM-1000b Magnetic Switch series     Factmut.TIF (647232 bytes)

The CLT-C25, CLT-I25, and CLT-S25 are Liquid Level Sensing devices designed to measure tank levels, and to transmit outputs to remote locations. They consist of a Magnetic Reed Switch Primary Sensing Element mounted in a protective tube, and an Electronic Transmitter that is mounted to one end of the assembly.

The CLT Sensing Element, when excited by a constant voltage, works as a voltage divider and provides a voltage output that is proportional to the Liquid Level being measured. This voltage is then measured by the PM-1000 transmitter located in the attached transmitter housing. The sensed voltage is then converted into a standard 4-20 mA current output. The PM-1000 Transmitter is a 2 wire Loop Powered Transmitter and is normally mounted at one end of the Sensing Element. Should it be necessary to remote mount the transmitter, 3 wires are required between the PM-1000 Transmitter and the Primary Sensing Element.

These Transmitters feature Ease of Mounting and Adjustment, Vibration Resistance, Field Serviceability, Remote Transmitter Mounting, and Interface Level Capability.

The three model configurations are identical to that of the MST Magnetostrictive Transmitters shown above.
